desktop browsing
posted on Mac Beginners
I just came across a browser i've never heard of before called DeskBrowse. It looks and feels pretty neat and nifty, is pretty fast too, what is different about this is that it has two modes - a secure full screen mode and a smaller desktop mode that slides in and out of the left hand side of the screen as you can see in the image below;
the full screen mode is acessed by the key combination of command + F2 while the destop window slides in and out at the keypress of command + F1. DeskBrose also integrating with the menu bar for quick acess to it's menu and controlls while in other applictions, it seems superbly suited to a task like compiling research material into a document or studying/reading online as you can easily slide DeskBrowse away to to anothe task and then slide out to resume online activity.
Looking into it myself, i do find it a bit laking in a few areas at present but do give it a chance as it is only version 1.0. I feel first of all it needs a few things in the preferences, mainly that of position control of the window as you cannot move the window to the top of your screen to allow a greater window size, which i feel may allow better use of DeskBrowse for when i want to drag and increase the window size - of which i cannot and want to. Secondly i find the bookmark facilities lacking a whole lot - it's pretty basic saying that. But all in all, it's different, fun and funky - and looking real good, i will be looking out for further developments of DeskBrowser hoping those features will be put in them i'm set.
To add, i actually realised there is no support fotr this app at the moment and the developer is looking for some help to continue development of DeskBrowse, so if there is any cocao programmers out there who want to get stuck into developing this app i want to see version 2.0 :D
